Users

Users are system entities that facilitate access to the various Motionite subsystems and resources. A User is created in Passport and is allocated a unique identifier. Permissions can be assigned to the User, as can resources like Clients. A User is protected by a password, and optionally a second form of authentication.

List Page

When you enter the Users area you will be presented with a list of the current Users in the system. This list will come from Passport.

There will be a filter control at the top of the list to enamble you to quickly find the User you are interested in.

User Select

With each User there are a series of actions which can be carried out. This is done by selecting on of the icons shown to the right of each User in the display. If you hover over the icons they will display what each of them does.

Add User

Click on the Add new user button to add a User into Motionite. A page similar to this will appear:

User Add

Typically you will just enter the details for the new User; Username, Email address, phone number, and password. However, if the User already has an identity in Passport (e.g. if they were once a User and were deleted) then you can click the “Find existing identity” button and search for identities in Passport which do not have access to Motionite. If you do this then you will not be able to change the details on the identity. Click the Clear buton to remove the selection.

Applications and Markets

The application section grants the User access to various systems within Motionite. Select the applications that the User requires. Note that some applications will add dependant applications. For example, Motif will also add Zenith WebSocket API.

A market section grants the User access to any markets that Motionite is connected to. Choose the markets applicible to this User.

Edit User

Click on the pencil icon to edit a User. A page similar to this will appear:

User Edit

You may notice a couple of differences between this page and the Add page. Firstly, there is no longer any fields for password. Passwords are the concern for only the User after they have been created. If they wish to view or change any of their details then they can either login to Passport directly or access it through the icon in the header.

Passport Icon

Secondly, the Users unique identifier is shown at the bottom of the page. This is for information purposes only and should not be required for normal operations.

Delete User

Click on the cross icon to delete a User. A page similar to this will appear:

User Delete

This page will display the selected User to ensure you have selected the correct one. Click on the Delete button to remove the User.

This will not actually delete the User from Passport, but it will remove the user from Motionite. If at a later stage you wish to reenguage with the User, you will be able to find them in Add screen by using the “Find existing identity” button.

Click on the chain icon to set the Client Links for a User. A page similar to this will appear:

User Links

Click the button for the method you wish to use to link this User to Clients. The options are:

  1. Directly allocate a Client
  2. Link to all the Clients that are with a set of Dealers
  3. Link to all the Clients that are under a set of Branches
  4. Link to all the Clients that are under a set of Brokers

The benefit of having these different methods is reduced administration. If you choose to link via methods 2 to 4 then no further actions need to take place as Clients are added or removed from the Dealer/Branch/Broker. The User will automatically have access to the Clients linked through the entity. If the Clinet linkages are done directly then maintenance actions may be required for several Users when adding new Clients.

When a method is selected, a page is shown where you can select which entity you wish to link. The page will appear similar to this:

User Link

On the left side you will see the currently available selections. On the right side you can see what has currently been selected. User the arrows to move entities between the sides. Use the filter box to help locate interested entities. Click Done when complete and you will return to the method selection screen again. From here you can choose another method of linkage if you wish. Click the Save button when you have made all changes. Click the Back button to cancel any changes.

Click on the binocula icon to display the Client Links for a User. A page similar to this will appear:

Show User Links

The two methods available for displaying User linkages are presented to you.

  • Show Associations displays the linkages are you have selected them. That is, via the entities.

Show User Associations

  • Show ALL linked Clients will expand the list of linkages down to a list of Clients.
